I love smoothies because they’re fast, easy, and delicious, especially in the summer months. I also like that you can add and subtract ingredients easily to make it a meal or a snack. (I prefer them as a snack because I’m never quite full at breakfast when I’ve had just a smoothie). I never make a smoothie without these basics:
Almond milk or another non-dairy milk, hemp hearts, six or seven cranberries, a cup of mixed berries, and a little organic fair-trade cocoa powder – because in my opinion, every smoothie needs chocolate! I usually add a handful of greens as well.
Sometimes I add walnuts, chia, or flax if I want a protein (and calorie) boost – I find that I can’t go wrong with this recipe.
